Inseam measurement

Every man deserves to move with grace, class and style, and that requires having a suit that fits to a T. It might take a superlative level of craftsmanship to tailor a perfect fit, but gathering the proper measurements is pretty simple.

To determine the right size for your suit or sport coat, you need your chest measurement—that’s the number part of a suit or jacket’s size—and a length for your garment that’s ascertained by your height. Take your chest measurement at the highest point under your arms. The tape measure should not be held to tightly or loosely. You can determine the length of your jacket using the chart below.

Fitting your suit pants only takes a few simple measurements. First, select your normal waist measurement (e.g. 34”); if you’re unsure of your size, hold a tape measure just above your belt in a similarly relaxed manner as used for your chest measurement. Add one inch to that number. You’ve got the choice of receiving your pants with an unfinished hem, or you may take advantage of our complimentary hemming which is available on all trousers (as part of a suit, or trousers sold separately). If you select the complimentary hemming, you will need to measure your out-seam (1). Simply take your favorite pair of trousers and lay them flat on a table. Measure from the top of the waistband to the bottom of the trouser along the outside seam. This is your out-seam measurement.

Perfect. You’ve taken the proper measurements. Now the rest is up to us. We’ll make sure that your suit fits properly in all the right places. After all, we’ve been making men look sharp since 1887.

Proper Fit

Fit Guide

Suit and Sportcoat sizes are denoted with a number and a word (42 regular, for example). The number corresponds to your chest measurement; the word describes the length of the jacket, which depends on your height (please see chart).

To measure your chest, place your arms at your sides and have someone take a measurement under the armpits and around the broadest area of your chest. The tape measure should be held so that it is neither tight nor loose. Unless otherwise notated in the product description, our suits have a six-inch drop, which means that a size 40 jacket will be paired with a size 34 waist pants.
